Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Audacious Innovations, LLC ("Lore," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Lore mobile application and related services (the "App").
If you have questions, contact us at sarah@audaciousinnovations.com.
1. Who we are
The data controller responsible for your personal data is:
Audacious Innovations, LLC, Hendersonville, Tennessee, USA. Contact: sarah@audaciousinnovations.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run Lore.
Information you provide:
- Account information — your email address, and (if you use Sign in with Apple) the name and email Apple shares with us. Authentication is handled by our backend provider, Supabase.
- Your content ("your library") — the books you add, reading status and progress, series, owned copies, and the free-text reading notes, quotes, characters, relationships, plot threads, questions, and world notes you create.
- AI chat messages — the messages you send to the Lore AI companion and the notes you submit to be parsed into structured lore.
- Voice input — when you use voice dictation, your speech is transcribed to text. Transcription is performed using your device's speech-recognition service (which, on iOS, may process audio on Apple's servers). We store the resulting text, not the audio.
- Support communications — anything you send us by email or via the report feature.
Information collected automatically:
- Identifiers — an account user ID, and a subscription identifier used by our payments provider (RevenueCat) to associate purchases with your account.
- Purchase information — your subscription status for Lore Pro. We do not collect or store your payment card details; payment is processed by Apple (and, on Android, Google).
- Diagnostics / usage — we do not currently use third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs. (If this changes, update this section and the App Store privacy labels accordingly.)
We do not use advertising SDKs and do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. How we use your information
| Purpose | Examples | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Provide the App | Store your library, sync your data, authenticate you | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| AI features | Generate chat replies and parse notes into structured lore | Your consent, and/or our legitimate interest in providing the feature you requested (Art. 6(1)(a)/(f)) |
| Process subscriptions | Manage Lore Pro entitlements | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Support & safety | Respond to you, review reported content | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Legal compliance | Meet our legal obligations | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time (this does not affect processing already carried out).
4. AI processing and third-party AI
Lore's AI features are powered by Anthropic (the Claude models). When you use the Lore chat or submit notes for parsing, the relevant content (your message, related library context, and your reading progress) is sent to Anthropic to generate a response. Anthropic acts as our service provider / processor and, under its commercial terms, does not use this content to train its models.
AI responses can be inaccurate or incomplete. They are provided for your personal use and should not be relied upon as professional advice. See our Terms of Service for more.
5. Sensitive information
Your free-text notes are yours to write, and could incidentally include sensitive details (for example, your reaction to a book that touches on health, religion, or sexuality). We do not ask you to provide sensitive information, and we use whatever you write only to provide the App's features to you. Please avoid entering information you would not want processed by the third-party AI provider described above.
6. How we share information
We share information only with the service providers that make Lore work, each acting on our instructions under a data-processing agreement:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Backend hosting, database, authentication |
| Anthropic | AI chat and note parsing (does not train on your content) |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple; App Store payments |
| Google Books, The New York Times (Books API), Hardcover | Book metadata, bestseller lists, and community ratings used in Browse |
We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not share it with data brokers.
We may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
7. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and some of our providers (including Anthropic and Supabase) are located in the United States. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA/UK, we rely on an appropriate safeguard — the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (where the recipient is certified) or Standard Contractual Clauses / the UK IDTA. You can request details of the safeguards we use by contacting us.
8. Data retention
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (Section 9), we delete your personal data and user content. We may retain limited records where required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
9. Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account at any time from You → Delete account in the App. This permanently removes your account and associated personal data and content (books, lore, notes, quotes, reading history, and AI chat data stored on our servers). Deleting your account does not cancel an active Lore Pro subscription — manage that in your App Store (or Google Play) account settings.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate data;
- delete your data;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- port your data to another service;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in the EU/UK) or your local regulator.
California residents: you have the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, so no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" action is required.
To exercise any right, email sarah@audaciousinnovations.com or use the in-app deletion flow. We will respond within the time required by law (generally within 30 days).
11. Children
Lore is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and update the "Last updated" date; material changes will be communicated in the App.
